Pinlord is built for artists, pin makers, collectors, creators and creative communities — and we believe AI should never be used to exploit them.

Pinlord supports the enamel pin, custom merch and creator community. As AI tools become more common, we want to be clear about how we use AI, what we will not manufacture, and how we protect artists, designers, illustrators, makers and IP owners.

This policy explains how Pinlord uses AI responsibly, how we review custom manufacturing requests, and why we may reject orders that appear to misuse AI, imitate artists, copy creative work, infringe IP or breach our community standards.

Our AI Stance

Pinlord supports responsible technology, but our loyalty is to the creative community. AI can be useful for admin, research, accessibility and support, but it should not be used to copy artists, mass-produce stolen ideas, imitate creators or profit from artwork without permission.

✅ AI can support better service We may use AI to help organise support, improve product education, draft internal notes, translate content and make our team faster.
🚫 AI cannot replace artist permission We will not knowingly manufacture projects that appear to copy, imitate, exploit or misrepresent another artist, brand or rights holder.
📌 Pin makers deserve protection Custom pins, patches, charms and merch often carry personal artwork, fandom identity, community value and creator labour.
🤝 Ethical merch includes ethical artwork Responsible custom manufacturing includes respecting artwork, ownership, fan communities, culture, licensing and creative labour.

How We Use AI

Pinlord may use AI internally to support workflow, customer education and communication. We do not use AI as a replacement for creator rights, customer responsibility or human review.

Customer support and education

We may use AI to organise product questions, explain manufacturing options, suggest helpful replies and direct customers to resources such as our Product Guides, Free Design Templates and Contact Pinlord page.

Translation and accessibility

We may use AI-assisted translation and editing tools to help more artists, makers and customers understand our products, policies and ordering process.

Internal workflow improvements

We may use AI to summarise enquiries, organise internal notes, identify missing order details and improve team processes. Our team remains responsible for customer decisions, manufacturing approvals and community standards.

Content drafting and research support

We may use AI to help draft educational content, product explanations, outlines and internal summaries. AI assistance does not override our artist-first position or community protection standards.

What We Will Not Manufacture

Pinlord may refuse, cancel or request changes to any order where the artwork, files, references, prompt notes or context suggest that the project may misuse AI or harm the creative community.

🚫 Artist imitation We may reject designs that intentionally imitate a living artist, illustrator, pin maker or creator without permission.
🚫 Stolen or scraped artwork We may reject designs that appear copied, scraped, traced or generated from another creator’s work without consent.
🚫 Fan art without rights We may reject artwork using copyrighted characters, logos, trademarks, shows, games, bands or fandom properties without permission.
🚫 Misleading creator claims We may reject projects that claim to be official, licensed, handmade, original or artist-approved when the context suggests otherwise.
🚫 Harmful synthetic content We may reject AI-generated or edited content that harasses, sexualises, exploits, humiliates or impersonates real people.
🚫 Community standard breaches We may reject orders involving hate, abuse, targeted harassment, unsafe content, explicit exploitation or harmful misinformation.

AI Artwork and Creator Protection

Many artists use digital tools, and some use AI-assisted tools in limited ways. This policy is not designed to punish ethical creative workflows. It is designed to protect the pin and merch community from exploitation, imitation, theft and unfair commercial production.

Allowed: AI as a support tool

We may accept projects where AI was used for rough concept exploration, moodboarding, colour testing, editing support, background removal, copy assistance or accessibility — as long as the final artwork is original, permitted, human-directed and not copied from another creator.

Not allowed: AI used to copy artists

We may reject projects where AI appears to have been used to mimic a specific artist, reproduce a recognisable creator style, generate lookalike artwork, recreate copyrighted characters or turn unlicensed work into commercial pins or merchandise.

Pinlord reviews projects case by case

Not every AI-assisted file is automatically rejected. We review the artwork, references, ownership, permissions, customer notes, community context and potential harm. If needed, we may ask for source files, licences, written permission or creator approval.

Our Community Standards

Pinlord exists because of creators, collectors and communities. Our AI policy works alongside our broader community standards for safe, respectful and responsible custom merchandise.

Respect artists Do not submit artwork that copies, traces, imitates or commercialises another person’s creative work without permission.
Respect fandom and IP Fan communities matter, but we may reject unlicensed use of characters, brands, shows, games, celebrities, bands or protected assets.
Respect people and identity We may reject designs that exploit, harass, impersonate, sexualise, shame or target real people or protected communities.
Respect honesty Do not misrepresent AI-generated, copied or unlicensed work as official, original, handmade, licensed or artist-approved.

How We Review Orders

We cannot guarantee every issue will be identified, but we use a review process to reduce harm and protect the creative community.

Artwork and context review We look at submitted files, reference images, notes, product type and obvious signs of copying, imitation, infringement or misuse.
Rights and permission check If needed, we may ask whether you own the artwork, have a licence, have creator approval or can provide proof of rights.
Community standards review We assess whether the order may breach standards around hate, harassment, exploitation, unsafe content, impersonation or misleading claims.
Approve, request changes or reject We may approve the order, request changes, ask for more information, cancel the project or decline manufacturing.

What Customers Are Responsible For

By submitting artwork or placing an order with Pinlord, customers confirm they have the rights, permissions and authority needed to manufacture the design.

You must own or have permission to use the artwork

You are responsible for ensuring your artwork, logo, character, brand assets, references and files are original, licensed, approved or legally usable for commercial production.

You must not submit copied AI-generated work

You must not submit AI-generated or AI-edited artwork that intentionally copies, imitates or recreates another creator’s work, brand, character, product, likeness or protected style without permission.

You must provide proof if requested

We may ask for source files, licensing information, written permission, creator approval or other evidence that your project can be manufactured responsibly.

FAQs

Does Pinlord ban all AI-assisted artwork?

No. We do not automatically ban every project touched by AI. We are focused on preventing artist imitation, copied artwork, misleading claims, IP infringement and harmful commercial use.

Can I use AI for moodboards or rough concepts?

Yes, AI-assisted moodboards, rough concepts, colour exploration or layout testing may be acceptable when the final artwork is original, permitted, human-directed and not copied from another creator.

Will Pinlord manufacture AI-generated fan art?

We may reject fan art, character art, logos, show references, game references or brand references if the customer cannot show permission, licensing or legal authority to manufacture the design commercially.

What happens if an order is rejected?

We may ask for changes, request proof of rights, cancel the order or decline manufacturing. Our goal is to protect creators, collectors, customers and production partners.

Can I report artwork misuse?

Yes. If you believe a submitted or manufactured design misuses your artwork, brand or creative rights, please contact us through Contact Pinlord with clear details.
