Meet LuluBean Boutiques: Art, Determination and a Very Special Black Cat
Pinlord Artist Feature · Independent Artist and Maker
LuluBean Boutiques is the creative brand founded by Alecia, an artist whose lifelong love of art and deep affection for her adopted black cat, Bean, inspired her to begin a new creative chapter in 2022.
Built during the hours outside her full-time job, LuluBean Boutiques grew from a personal passion into a meaningful small business shaped by persistence, friendship and the courage to share original work with others.
How LuluBean Boutiques Began
Alecia’s love for art began at a young age, although she never originally imagined that creativity would become part of her career or lead to a business of her own.
That changed in 2022. A growing desire to express herself, share her artwork and celebrate her adopted black cat, Bean, inspired her to begin building LuluBean Boutiques.
Every available hour outside her regular responsibilities went into developing the brand, creating products and learning what it meant to turn personal artwork into something other people could discover and support.
The Inspiration Behind the Brand
Bean is more than a beloved pet—he is part of the emotional foundation of LuluBean Boutiques. Alecia’s affection for her black cat became closely connected to the personality and heart behind the business.
By combining her artistic interests with a subject that carried genuine personal meaning, she created a brand that felt authentic from the beginning.
The strongest creative ideas often begin with something—or someone—the artist already loves deeply.
Building a Brand While Working Full-Time
Launching LuluBean Boutiques while maintaining a full-time job required significant time, energy and discipline.
Alecia spent countless hours creating, preparing products and managing the many responsibilities that come with an independent business. Exhaustion was part of the process, but her commitment to the project helped her continue moving forward.
Creative Commitment
Alecia consistently used her free time to develop the artwork, products and personality of the brand.
Time Management
Balancing employment and entrepreneurship required careful planning and a willingness to make the most of limited hours.
Learning by Doing
Each product, event and interaction gave her practical experience in building an independent creative business.
Staying Motivated
Seeing people respond positively to her work helped her push through fatigue and uncertainty.
Finding Community Through Events and Online Connections
Some of the most rewarding parts of Alecia’s journey came through the people she met while building LuluBean Boutiques.
Pop-up events gave her the chance to meet customers, speak with other vendors and experience the creative community in person. Instagram also helped her form connections with artists and makers who shared encouragement, advice and friendship.
These relationships made the business feel like more than an individual project. They created a support system that helped her learn, stay inspired and feel less alone during difficult stages.
Proudest Achievements and Milestones
Launching in 2022
Turning a personal creative interest into a real brand marked the beginning of an entirely new chapter.
Making the First Sales
Discovering that people genuinely wanted to purchase her products gave Alecia confidence in her work.
Attending Pop-Ups
In-person events helped her meet customers, learn from vendors and become more comfortable sharing her work publicly.
Creating Lasting Friendships
Connections made through events and Instagram became an important source of advice, encouragement and fun.
Overcoming Self-Doubt
Like many new makers, Alecia did not know whether people would connect with her work or want to purchase the products she created.
She began primarily because she enjoyed making art, but customer interest showed her that personal creativity could resonate with a much wider audience.
Continuing to share her work, attend events and speak with other vendors helped her move past doubt and gain confidence as both an artist and business owner.
Confidence often grows after you begin—not before. Sharing the work creates the experiences that make self-belief possible.
Alecia’s Advice for Fellow Artists
Go for it and do not doubt yourself. You may be surprised by how many people connect with the things you genuinely enjoy creating.
- Start because you enjoy it: genuine enthusiasm gives a creative project the energy it needs to grow.
- Try in-person events: pop-ups provide direct customer feedback and valuable relationships with other vendors.
- Put yourself out there: sharing your work creates opportunities that private ideas cannot.
- Talk to other makers: creative friendships can provide advice, encouragement and a sense of community.
- Use social media for connection: online relationships can become meaningful sources of support even before meeting in person.
Turning Personal Inspiration into Collectible Merchandise
Artists can transform meaningful subjects, beloved pets and personal stories into products that connect emotionally with customers. Enamel pins are especially suited to character designs, animal-inspired collections and small-batch launches.
